The Journey of a Sweet Little Boy and His Special Heart

Back to Intensive Care

We have been moved back to the CICU.  We can look at this two ways- a step backwards, or a chance for Logan to be monitored more closely.  I choose to look at it as a blessing we are back here.  He has his own nurse here watching him 24/7.  And she can focus on just him.
We had a really, really rough night and morning.  The x-rays last night showed an increase of fluid in his lungs.  The echo showed his right atrium was on overload and the septum between the right and left atrium was bowing the wrong way.  We are not sure if this is something that medication can help or if he will need another surgery.  They made the decision to transfer him back to intensive care, and since we have been here he has been doing better.  He refused to eat for about 8 hours and then I tried again out of desperation to give him some comfort around noon, and he finally ate some.  He has done better since then and even eaten one more time.  I just barely left him for the first time all day so I could shower, get out of my pj's, brush my teeth, and then Brad and I were able to get some breakfast/ lunch/dinner.  He is resting peacefully now.
Thank you everyone for fasting and praying for us today.  I asked Brad today if he thought Heavenly Father was tired of hearing from me.  I have been praying all day too.  We will hopefully talk with the surgeon tomorrow and get a better idea of what to do next.

  1. Heidi, he is a strong little man. He is just testing the system I think. I know he is going to come back fighting just like he always does. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Brad & Logan. If i can do anything for you from here let me know. Before you know it, you'll all be back here at home with a "healthier, stronger" baby boy.

  2. Oh, Heidi! Thank you for keeping up on all the updates. My heart just hurts for you and the trials you are facing. I pray for Logan all the time and hope things start looking better for him. He is such a sweet sweet little baby. Your whole family is in my prayers. Hang in there.... And no, Heavenly Father NEVER gets tired of hearing from you! He is a God of miracles and through Him everything will be ok.

  3. Heidi - So glad to hear he's doing a little bit better. I've been aching for you all day long. Even though the details are different between Logan and Enzo, I think I know exactly how you have been feeling, and I hurt for you because I've been there. We just said family prayer and Enzo prayed that Heavenly Father will fix Logan's heart just like He fixed his. But no matter what, I know you are all in His hands. We will keep praying for you and I'll keep feeling your pain with you. I just wish I could make it easier for you.

  4. Heidi, thanks for keeping us updated. You are an amazing mom. I think Heavenly Father has a special place in his heart for mothers, especially those petitioning for their children's welfare. Know that you are in all our prayers, and we send our love to you, Brad and Logan. Let us know if you need anything here at home.

  5. Yeah for the 1:1 nurse. I know you guys must be exhausted. Raise your arms up and let The Savior carry you for a while. Let the prayers of so many being offered in your behalf "float" you at this time. Logan went into this strong and I expect nothing less from him. This is just a bump. He will rally, he is Logan!
    Loves!
